Susan D. Livingston graduated from the
University of Notre Dame with a BA in Finance in December 1981, after
three and one-half years of study.
In 1985, she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School
of Law and was admitted to the Bar.
Ms. Livingston began her career with the
law firm of Tarasi, Tighe, Tierney & Johnson, PC where she worked on
all aspects of tort litigation. In
1987, she worked with John A. Tumolo, Esquire, for whom she clerked
while in law school. While
with Attorney Tumolo, Ms. Livingston was engaged in the general practice
of law including corporate, domestic relations, real estate, tort
litigation and estates. Subsequent
to that, she clerked with former President Judge William F. Cercone on
the Superior Court of Pennsylvania where she primarily drafted proposed
opinions and memoranda. In
1991, Ms. Livingston worked for the law firm of Murphy Taylor, P.C.,
where she handled all aspects of insurance defense litigation.
When Ms. Livingston began at Murphy Taylor, she was primarily
responsible for the litigation of a complex action involving the
construction of an office tower. She also was actively involved in pursuing matters in
Arbitration and at Trial, including Trials to verdict before juries.
In January 1998, Ms. Livingston returned to the Superior Court of
Pennsylvania as a Deputy Administration Clerk for the newly elected
Judge Joan Orie Melvin. Ms.
Livingston used her prior experience with the Superior Court to assist
in getting the chambers established.
